For pain and headaches, you can use a cold compress. While foods like herbal teas and soups relieve the symptoms. To treat nasal conditions you can use steam inhalation, nasal strips, and saline nose drops. As a cough suppressant, you can use honey tea and ginger tea. Gargling with salt water and steam also helps in treating cough.

You can relieve morning sickness by eating frequent small meals. Try eating snack bars throughout the day. Lying down and having some rest can also work. Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of fluids. Relax by wearing loose clothes.

Don’t use pain medications like NSAIDs, Aspirin, and codeine-based analgesics as they can cause complications to the mother and baby. To relieve the pain you can use paracetamol but only for the shortest time possible. Massages and heat compressions reduce body pain.

⦁ Constipation
You can avoid constipation by eating high fibrous food like fruits, vegetables, lentils, beans, and whole-grain. Drinking lots of water and exercising regularly also relieves constipation.

⦁ Skin changes
Changes in the skin like hyperpigmentation, varicose veins on the legs, linear Negra, stretch marks, and rashes during pregnancy can occur. Some of the skin changes are normal while others like rash and skin allergy require a doctor’s opinion.

⦁ Swollen feet
It usually occurs at the end of the third trimester. You can overcome swollen feet, fingers, and ankles by avoiding standing for a long time. Wear comfortable shoes. Put your feet in warm water. Keeping your feet high will also provide relief.


You can use Vicks during pregnancy to treat cold, flu, runny, or stuffed nose. However, if you are allergic to any of its ingredients then avoiding it is best.
